There is now a free vaccine to protect babies from RSV. If your baby was born between 1 March 2026 and 31 August 2026, you can book this at our practice. Why This Matters RSV is a common virus. It causes chest infections. 1 in 2 babies get RSV. For most babies, it's like a bad cold. But for some babies, it means a visit to the GP or hospital. A small number of babies need to stay in hospital. A few need intensive care. The RSV vaccine is one injection. It's called Nirsevimab.
